She Picks Flowers

I so wanted to do a few more pages with my August kit from Kreatorville Kraft so I managed to pull together a couple more for my stint as Kontributing Kreator. This was one of them.

A fairly simple design, with minimal journaling and embellishments which is fairly rare for me as you can probably guess, but I think it's striking nonetheless. In fact, I think it's better this way because it really highlights that very textural flower I made.

I picked up this trick from Jana Eubank - matting my alphas/title onto dark cardstock and cutting around it. I think it adds so much more definition to the letters, and it also means I can then easily pop some foam tape underneath them to give it dimension too! I used the same treatment on that green border strip from The Girl's Paperie book that comes in the kit. Love learning little techniques that make so much difference :-)

So now let's talk about that flower. My aim with this was to try and mimic the Camillia's that are in the photos, so I fiddled around a bit until I had something that I think resembled it fairly well.
I've done up a tutorial on how I made it, but it's not going up on the Kreatorville blog until later in the year so you'll just have to be patient I'm afraid!

The story on this layout is how Munchy has this deep-seated desire that whenever she sees a flower somewhere - be it a flowering weed in the gutter, or the one and only Camilia on the tree and everything else in between, she can't help herself but pick it and give it to someone. Lucky for me, I'm usually the recipient! Oh she has a heart of gold that one :-)

  1. She had to get her heart of gold from someone, and I'd gander that it came from you...What a lovely clean and simple layout, it really focuses on a lot of the textural elements you have.
