The Story of a Wool and Flax Giveaway

I've got a couple of little princesses in my life, you all know that. They don't always act like it mind you, they do the usual amount of fighting and tantrums and tears. But really, most of the time they look out for one another and help each other out.

Having two girls means lots of dress-ups, tea-parties and Disney Princess paraphernalia. But I wouldn't have it any other way. Someone who understands exactly how I feel is my good friend Joan. She has two daughters of her own (and a little boy on the way - which is why we ran our Birthing Classes together that I blogged about here)

Our combined total of 4 girls get along like a house on fire. To the point where if we're at an event together such as church, we have to coordinate our departure otherwise there would be too many tears if one family were to leave before the other! Joan's eldest daughter recently had a Princess Birthday Party which both my girls were super-excited to attend, and we spend some time together dreaming up the perfect birthday card for the occasion, with plenty of glitter and sparkle and the fabulous FWAB Chloe Pink Flourish!

It was a wonderful event with crown-making, treasure hunts, dragon games, and a castle cake. If you're interested, Joan has some wonderful photos up on her own blog of all the Princess Adventures.

Which brings me to the point of today's story! My amazingly talented and crazily busy friend Joan has recently opened her own crafty store called Wool and Flax selling some of the most luxuriously elegant and exclusive wools and yarns. Here's what she had to say about her products, "our feature line is the comprehensive range of beautiful yarns by Manos del Uruguay, the only wool manufacturer to be a member of the World Fair Trade Organisation.  Manos del Uruguay is fairly new to Australian shores and offers luscious blends of fibres in a wide and wonderful range of colours. I know you'll fall in love with them too."

I would really appreciate it it if you popped over and checked out Joan's new store and blog and left her some love. Leave her a comment on her blog telling her I sent you, and then come back here and tell me you did! There just might be a mystery RAK in it for one lucky winner!
Winner will be drawn on the 11th November.
And just so you can all be winners, Joan has been generous enough to offer my readers a special promotion to her store. If you enter the coupon code: 'ScrappyPromo' at checkout you'll get 10% off between 1st and 10th of November!

The Story of Procuring a Smile

I haven't had nearly as much time as I would have liked this month to take on any challenges. But here's one that I managed to sqeeze in at the last minute.

Now you might not be able to tell at first glance, but I actually used the sketch at ScrapFIT to inspire this layout. Things just kinda morphed a little bit as I went along. Like turning the banner into the border of arrows, changing the position of the title, and adding all my necessary journaling.

We haven't had a family photo taken in a while, and certainly not one of us all dressed up to the nines. But we had the extraordinary Lisa from Loysh Photography snap this shot of us at our recent Church Ball, and despite the fact that Moodles needed to be tickled to procure a smile (which is why she has such a funny look on her face!) this was a moment that I'm sure I'll scrap more than once.

Do you love the "Blessings" photo frame though? I do (even though it got slightly mangled in my machine.... still totally usable!) It's supposed to be cut as a journaling card and comes in a set of six different designs that will be released as part of our exclusive Jenni Bowlin Kit Cuts in November. You'll definitely want to check this one out, and I'll post more details when it goes live.

And speaking of JBS... have you seen this advertised?

This challenge is being hosted by Scrapbook.com and there's some amazing JBS prizes up for grabs. Now I've just checked it out, and we've only got one entry so far! And there's two prizes to be given away which means.... good odds hey!! Check out all the details here.

The Story of the Last Laugh

Oh my word it's been an exhausting week away for me! I flew up to Sydney last weekend for a Study Conference, and yep you guessed it... all I've done is try and concentrate on sit in lectures and study. Hence why it's been a little quiet around here on the bloggy front ;-) But it'll all be worth it of course if/when I pass my exams (which I sit in February).

Meanwhile, I've got one last project to share with you from my time as a Guest Designer for Scrapbook Kits With a Difference this month. I made it with the October kit, and I just got super-excited by the fun bright colours of those flower rubons. I just may have gone a little overboard clustering them all together like this on the tag, but I like it!

And one last thing before I go....
I'm drawing a new winner for my Celebratory Giveaway since the last girl hasn't contacted me. So the person with the last laugh is...
LEAH CAMERON!!!

Leah.... please PLEASE email me your postal address so I can give this prize away to someone!

The Story of the Double Whammy (and some winners!)

So I totally didn't take into account that when I said I would post winners for my current competitions that I was travelling away from home for a week. Sorry it's a little late. But before I get down to announcing the lucky ones, I wanted to share another page I made as the Guest DT this month for Scrapbook Kits With a Difference.

I certainly got a little "quotey" on my pages this month, as this is the third page I made for SKWAD that features a quote I stole was inspired by from Pinterest. This one is an Albert Einstein quote that reads, "Logic will take you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere".

Because I keep doing all these pages that feature my children's artwork, I'm constantly on the lookout for quotes or sayings like this that I can use on my layouts. So not only did I manage to include one of Munchy's recent drawings, but I've also captured a photo of her with another masterpiece in hand. Double whammy!!

The Kelly Panacci rubons that came in the October SKWAD kit fit perfectly with this airy-fairy whimsical theme too and I used up pretty much every single one of the flowers! But it was totally worth it 'cos I think this looks really fun!

However... this is the moment that I suspect you're really here to see.
The winners!! As chosen by Random.Org

The winner of my RAK for my Celebratory Giveaway is...
#1 SARAH who said, "Oh Nat how wonderful! I'm so incredibly impressed by your amazing "scrappy adventures". You always inspire me to go off and play with my arts and crafts :-)"

And the winner of the Silhouette Cutting files from the Jenni Bowlin blog hop is....
#2 ALICE Z who said, " Love your Autumn card. Thanks for sharing and the chance to win."

Sarah, if you could please email me your postal address, and Alice Z if you could let me know your email address I'll organise to get your prizes out to you ASAP. My email address is over there in the right side bar!

The Story of a Jenni Bowlin Blog Hop

Howdy Hoppers! And welcome to the next stop on the Jenni Bowlin Studio Halloween Treats Blog Hop. You should have hopped here from the amazing Megan Klauer's blog. But if not then go to the JBS blog for the full list, because you really don't want to miss out on anything!

Before we get down to all the giveaways and promotions, let me share with you a card I quickly whipped up for the occasion. I've used the latest JBS Silhouette cutting files (Autumn Titles) and the Magpie collection of papers. I slightly adjusted the file to suit my purposes - cutting the word 'Love' straight into the background of my card rather than as a tag. These sorts of adjustments are really easy to do once you know how. But if you're struggling to know where to start with your Silhouette then I suggest you sign up for Amanda's Silhouette 101 Class. It's currently 25% off until this coming Friday!!

Or if you don't have a Silhouette yet, then we've got a great deal going where you get all of the above for only $269.99 (which is pretty sweet if you consider the Silhouette alone retails for $299.99!!) All you have to do is enter the code: jbshalloweenbonanza at checkout. It's valid until the end of the month only.

Now there's heaps of giveaways along this Hop, but let me draw attention to the one on Jenni's blog first of all. She's giving away this cute little Halloween House which she made with her limited edition Halloween Kit. This kit has already sold out unfortunately, but you can still grab one of the October kits for sale in the store here.

And on the JBS Inspiration blog we will be giving away one of the Mega Kits! Your choice! These kits are also up for sale in the Limited Edition section of the shop. Fancy an early Christmas present?

Last but not least, you've got a chance to win our Silhouette Cutting Files on every Designer's blog... including this one! All you have to do is leave a comment. The Hop is open until 6pm Saturday CST (which is actually 11am Sunday morning for us Aussies!!) and I'll draw a winner then.

The next stop on the Hop, and your next chance to win is with the fabulously glittery Shimelle. Good luck :-)

The Story of the Missing Ensuite Door

It's time for another delicious Yammy Scrap colour combo challenge at Scrap Friends! And here's the page I made as my DT example.

What I love about colour combo challenges is seeing which colour everyone chose as their primary starting point. For this one you can see I chose black - mainly because I had that Prima paper with it's shining silver stars begging me to use it, and the perfect story to go with it (although not the photo! LOL!)

It documents another part of our normal everyday life. You see, one of the things we didn't initially notice when passing through our house on an inspection, but which fast became obvious once we started living here..... was the fact that our ensuite DOESN'T HAVE A DOOR! Weird! And it's not as though we can just attach one, because really it's an open archway that leads into our bathroom.

But apart from the (sometimes embarrassing) toilet issues the biggest problem is that because I get up quite early for work and have a shower, get dressed etc whilst The Man is still sleeping it means I've only got two choices. I either turn on the lights and wake him up... or I learn to do it all in the dark.
I've chosen the latter ;-)

I've gotten pretty good at putting on my makeup blind...  although I've learnt to check it before I actually step foot out of the house. And there's only ever been one occasion when I found out later I had put my underwear on inside out!
And that's why I say "thank goodness for daylight saving time" because it means it's getting lighter in the mornings so I can see what I'm doing!!

So to check out what the other DT and Guest DT girls did with the challenge, and to get all the details, you'll find it on the Scrap Friends blog here. This is the fabulous prize up for grabs this month... just stunning!

And speaking of prizes, I've got my Celebratory Giveaway happening this week too. Check it out here.
