One of my favourite galleries in the latest issue of Jot Magazine is the Minc gallery. Probably because this is my new favourite papercrafting tool! I am purposefully saying papercrafting rather than just scrapbooking because the possibilities seem rather limitless with this machine, but let me just show you what I had in the magazine today.
Gold foil will always be the winner, and when applied to the premade large 'hello sunshine' embellishment it became the perfect focal point for my bright beachy summery layout.
But I also wanted to test out the ability to create my own designs with the Minc, and this is just one way I tested out. I created the background of my strawberry card by first stamping and embossing the design like I normally would. I chose the silver foil this time and ran the whole thing through the machine.... and it worked! It did kinda re-melt the embossing which gave the once crisp outlines a thicker appearance, but I don't mind. I love the effect!
I can't wait to show you what else I've been discovering about my Minc, but in the meantime check out the gallery, and in fact the whole issue of Jot Magazine here. It's free!!
The Minc machine and all it's accessories can now be found in Spotlight stores around Australia. But if that doesn't suit then you can find a great deal online at Studio Calico.

Jot Magazine Issue 11 - part 1
Earlier in the month the latest issue of Jot Magazine was released and I just realised I've been a little remiss in sharing my layouts with you here on the blog. Sorry!
Jot Magazine is a free online publication that's dedicated to story telling and memory keeping. As a Jot Girl I have the honour of making projects for the specific galleries ahead of time. It's a bumper issue this time around with over 190 pages of inspiration and I've got so many layouts and cards in it that I thought I should break it up over two separate posts for you ;-)
The first gallery I quickly signed up for was the 'my favourite photo' gallery. I mean, how easy to scrap your most recent favourite photo?! As you can imagine, the hard bit was trying to narrow down what photo I wanted to scrap, but after I chose this one it came together quickly.
It's a hybrid layout and I used a digital template that Shanna Noel designed for Studio Calico last year (no longer available sorry) to cut out the different sections on my Silhouette.
The photo makes me giggle because in my mind Judah and his bear seem to have the exact same expression on their face! I enlarged the photo, converted it to black and white and printed it directly onto textured cardstock which gives it a rather interesting worn look.
Next up we have the card I made for the Mixed Media gallery.
To be honest it's been a little while since I got my mixed media supplies out since I've been sticking to cleaner Project Life spreads recently. But it was good to get a little messy again and spread some texture paste through a stencil. I have learned though that even if I'm using 'arty' techniques I still like to have my paper layers in straight lines so it doesn't feel too out of control for my taste ;-)
I'm really loving these colours too - feels very springy!
And my last share for today is this layout I made for the Type gallery. The idea was to include elements like typewriters, typed text etc etc.
My starting point was this old October Afternoon paper with the ladies sitting at their desk typing away. After watching lots of Mad Men recently it made me think of how far the concept of a 'career woman' has come since these days, and that got me thinking about my own personal struggle of trying to balance my career with my family.
As you can see, I had quite a bit to say on the matter! It seemed apt that I present it as though they are typed notes - plus the small font allowed me to say even more. Ha!
I'll be back to share the rest of my projects real soon. But in the meantime you can download the latest copy of the FREE Jot Magazine here.

Studio Calico "Wink Wink" sneaks
It's always a good day to get an email from Studio Calico - especially when they're asking me if I would like to contribute to the upcoming October scrapbook kits! I obviously agreed right there on the spot without a second thought ;-) The kits are called "Wink Wink" and they're quite exciting. Cutting edge designs and a bold colour scheme, and products you've never seen before. But enough chatting, let's get on with the sneaks shall we?!
The first layout I created is with the Main Kit only and I went a bit hybrid with it. The bright yellow fold-out paper (not sure if it's got a special name!) is a favourite for sure. So many possibilities.
There's also a matching yellow patterned paper with these cute origami boats all over it and it became a feature on this second layout I made. I also put a couple of the Add On stamp sets to good use here. The bold number stamps, and the Beginning and End one are both available at the Reveal on the 1st.
There's also metal dies available, including another version of the popular Emoji dies. So fun right?!
And the last sneak shows off the Add On Kit called LOL and the Embellishment Kit which is called BRB. Catching the theme of the names yet? ;-)
You can check out the Sneaks video and available products here.
Or see what the other Creative Team members have been sneaking here.
The kits will go up for sale on the 1st and I'll be back to show you my full layouts then.

Jot Magazine September mood board
It's been a busy time over at Jot Magazine. First up there was the release of the latest Issue, which is FREE and can be downloaded here. I've got a bunch of projects featured in it, but I'll get to that another day. Today I want to share my contribution for the September Mood Board Challenge and encourage you to play along with us!
My card took some playing with this time around, mainly because I don't have a lot of supplies in my stash that correspond to the colours in the Mood Board. Check it out....
My stash is full of yellow and pink and aqua, but not a lot of navy and red! Ultimately it was the Minc machine that came to my rescue as I foiled that fun butterfly in red and let it become the centrepiece to my card. It became a lot easier after that, and I was especially glad to find those number stickers tucked away in a pile of supplies because they too were perfect.
The challenge is being sponsored by Elle's Studio this month, so you know it's going to be worth your while playing along ;-) Hope to see you over there.

Moriah's July page
I also managed to finish Moriah's July page in a timely manner. Only a month behind feels like it's timely to me ;-) And I even remembered to include some kid-art in this one too!
Plus I managed to use a mix of ready made cards and embellishments from the Studio Calico Fairground PL Kit as well as a couple of handmade cards I put together during my 100 Day challenge. I've really only got a few left from that adventure. It was definitely worth it, and I'm thinking it's about time I started building up my stash again.
Those fun stamps though are a set from Kellie Stamps called "What?" The phrases "stay weird" and "the struggle is real yo!" both ended up being perfect for the photos I had of Moriah during July. In fact, they captured the mood of the photos so well that I barely needed to add any journaling! Here's what the whole set looks like. PS. It's currently up for preorder with shipping expected to start on Monday.
Gee, if I can get my August pages done soon then I really will be on top of the game! Feeling good!
Happy scrapping,
xx
