The Story of Bling for Boys

Because the vast majority of my scrapping is all about my girls, when it comes to scrapping masculine topics I tend to carry over some of my usual habits. I've got no fear of adding things like butterflies and flowers etc on boy-layouts!

So when I heard that the October challenge at Flourish With a Bling was going to be about using 'Bling It On Boys' I didn't even  have to hesitate. In fact, I already had this photo on the top of my pile to scrap so it couldn't have come at a better time.

I'm not sure if it's cheating or not, because I think any celebratory project deserves some bling, and DEFINITELY a birthday party should have some bling involved... even if it's a boy's!! And because the photo already had some sparkle in it the rhinestones only served to enhance that.

I used FWAB Kate's Corner Flourish in Silver to frame the photo, and scattered some of the 'spare' rhinestones in my paint splatters. How fun! And speaking of fun... have you been scrapping long enough to recognise these papers I've used? LOL! Old-school Sassafras! Love it to bits, and i am SO glad I finally gathered the courage to dip into my stash of Sass :-)

The Story of a Beautiful Friend

Just popping in quickly to share with you the first of the cards I made with my Scrapbook Kits With a Difference October Kit.

I seem to struggle with adding flowers to my layouts, but I find that cards are the perfect way to use them. They're certainly too beautiful to go to waste! And what I also really loved were the Manor House leaves that came in the kit - so I knew they needed to shine as well (I just toned down the brightness of them by covering them in white Tim Holtz Distress Stain!)

There's still plenty more creations left with this kit my friends, so watch out for that coming your way soon!!

The Story of My Porcelain Doll

Do you wanna know my favourite piece out of the kit I was sent from Scrapbook Kits With a Difference? Well it would have to be a coin-toss between the woodgrain chevron paper from Echo Park, or the Sewing Girl journal spot. So what better thing to do than combine both of those on a page together?!!

In fact, I think all my favourite things from the kit got used on this page. Because there was also the Maya Road envelope, those good-ol' Sassafras alphas and that gorgeous lace that also deserve a mention.

I'm sure I'm not the only Mum who gets all choked up when they watch their kids sleep. In fact, aren't those some of the best moments? I swear, it doesn't matter how bad they've been during the day, or how many tantrums they may have thrown... the minute they're asleep it's like they're the cutest thing ever, and all is instantly forgiven.

I remember when I first posted this photo on Instagram and someone commented on how my Moodles looked just like a porcelain doll. It's true - this is just about as perfect as she gets! Well perhaps not. Probably it's that moment where she throws her arms around me and says "I missed you today Mummy" and then plants a great big kiss and a lick on my cheek.

Oh how I love her :-)

The Story of a Scrapbook Kit with a Difference

So like most happy scrappy news, this was something that I had to keep to myself for a couple of months. But man, I was bursting with excitement when the lovely Julianne invited me to be the Guest Designer for Scrapbook Kits With a Difference for October!!

This was the very first page I cranked out when I got my kit that she designed with me in mind. And oh yeah did she get it right in every way! Hang on, let me show you what I'm talking about....

It's filled to the brim with the new Echo Park Everyday Eclectic line plus bunches of colourful fun embellishments (like that sewing girl card that definitely features in my next page!!), and you can grab your own kit over here.

But first I had to use that Twiddleybitz chipboard banner that I covered in gesso, a couple of layers of different mists and some sparkles. I've been neglecting my love of glitter for a while it seems. Time to get back into it :-) And it certainly suited my (almost) party theme on this page.

I also wanted to do something fun with the coin envelopes that were included in the kit, so I chose this bright yellow one and cut a window out of the front of it. I filled it with one of the white Prima flowers and mirrored buttons and tied it back up with twine. A little bit quirky, a little bit wacky... but I kinda like it!

All the journaling comes directly from this Pin I've got on my Quotes Board. It's from Stephanie Ackerman, and it was just too beautiful not to put on a page.
And speaking of pages, I've got lots more to share from this kit. But it'll just have to wait I'm afraid. I'm looking at a 25-hour working weekend so I gotta get me some rest now ;-)

The Story of the Purple Bubbles

With the fun colours in the photo I was scrapping I knew I had to go bold and bright with my layout this month for the new Scrap Friends Sketch Challenge.

And this is the fabulous sketch I based my page on. Angela keeps on amazing us with her great sketches, you can see why our challenges are rapidly gaining in popularity. They certainly get me running to my scrap table every time she sends a new one through!

When my brother and his girlfriend come to visit they often have a little surprise to give to the Girls. Not having kids themselves, these gifts sometimes involve a bit of noise and mess (we're still in the midst of making slime from their last visit) but honestly... the Girls love it of course.. and that's all that matters.

On this occasion they brought a bottle of bubbles. They were purple bubbles! So of course Moodles jumped up and down in excitement, and Munchy couldn't wait to give them a go :-) They pretty much used the entire bottle in one crazy exciting adventure!

I wanted my page to really capture that excitement and fun, so I started with my background paper from Glitz Designs and layered it up with the bright colours from Amy Tangerine, Teresa Collins, ICC and Studio Calico. The orange arrows are actually one of the Greatest View chevron bags cut into strips (something I'll have to try again) with the Heidi Swapp neon tape peeking out underneath.
