Neat & Tangled October Release | Day 5 Recap

YAY! The new release October products from Neat and Tangled are now available to purchase in the shop! I've been having a tonne of fun with them this week, and if you haven't seen all my recent posts, feel free to track back on my blog to see everything I've made.

But today I still have one more card to share!

This card features a combination of different products from the release, but the main images and sentiment all come from the 'Get Yeti' stamp set. The only images that don't are the presents, they're from the 'Fa La Llama' stamp set.

And in the background I've used the 'Falling Circles' coverplate die to create my own stencil (just from scrap cardstock) and sponged some light blue/aqua ink through it to make it look like a bit like it's snowing.

If you would like to see ALL the new release products up close and in 'real life', I've put together a video that walks you through everything. I had Moriah and Judah help me.. which made it really.... fun! You can see that on the Neat and Tangled YouTube channel HERE.

Neat & Tangled October Release | Day 4 "Fa La Llama"

Hi and welcome to Day 4 of the October release from Neat and Tangled. Today we're shining the spotlight on the "Fa La Llama" stamp set and it's matching dies. Here's the card I made with this super-cute set!

For a 3x4" stamp set, this one really packs a punch. It's got so many fun elements in it apart from just the main image of the llama, and I've used all of them for my card.

I love that the scarf ends come separately so you can place them where you'd like! And the squiggly little stars for background details are perfect.

And of course, don't get me started on how cute the sentiment is!

I used the Jewel Tones sequins from this months' relase to add the finishing touch to my festive card. I strung them onto some gold thread and hung them across the top, a bit like fairy lights or a garland. So fun!

BUY!

All the new release products will be available in the Neat and Tangled shop at 8am EDT (that's 11pm Australian Daylight Savings Time!) on Friday 6th. In the meantime feel free to browse the 'older' products, since you might want to pick up some of them as well ;-)

Neat & Tangled October Release | Day 3 "Winter" and "Backdrop" and "Jewel Tones" sequins

Welcome to Day 3 of the October release from Neat and Tangled. Today we're showcasing four different products, and I used three of them on this card...

So what we're focusing on today is the "Winter" stamp set, it's matching dies, "Jewel Tones" sequins and the "Backdrop" stamp.

I especially love the "Winter" stamp set because of that big sentiment. Those 5 lines are in one block, and although you could always cut it up or mask off different segments if you prefer, I really like the idea of being able to stamp it as a big bold statement!

I think this would make the perfect stamp for when you need to mass produce some holiday cards - one image stamped and you're practically done!

I finished my card by using the "Winter" dies to cut out the title. Multiple layers of white cardstock stuck together for the word, and reflective silver card for the shadow effect.

Now, if you were wondering about the value of the 3x4" Backdrop stamp then I can assure you there are so many ways you can use this. I've used it in probably the most simplest of ways for this card - I really did use it as a backdrop! LOL!

I first stamped the solid image in blue Distress Oxide ink, and then swiped my green Distress Oxide ink pad over the stamp in sections and stamped it again. It gives a subtle two-toned effect which is a bit fun.

I finished the background with silver embossed snowflakes from the "Winter" stamp set, and sprinkled on the Jewel Tones sequins too. The snowman and sentiment come from the "Get Yeti" stamp set that we featured on Day 1.

BUY!

Neat & Tangled October Release | Day 1 "Get Yeti"

Hello and welcome to day 1 of the October releases from Neat and Tangled.
Today we're showcasing the adorable "Get Yeti" stamp set and matching dies! Here's the card I made...

Now obviously I had to let the Yeti take centre-stage, but with so many other images in this stamp set to choose from, I had a hard time narrowing down who his friends should be! I actually stamped and coloured all of them and then played around until I settled on the little penguin and the snowman.

I used black embossing powder on watercolour paper to create all the images, and then used a combination of different inks to colour them in - that included Zig Clean Colour Brush pens, Distress Oxide inks, and my Color Theory dye inks from Studio Calico. All those mediums but I stuck to this fairly minimal colour scheme!! LOL!

There are a couple of sentiment options in this set, and I heat embossed one of them with white to complete this little snowy/frosty scene.

BUY!

Neat and Tangled September Release

The new release September goodies at Neat and Tangled are awesome as always!

I used the cute foxes from the Merry Kisses stamp set, and their matching dies as the focal point on this card. But instead of the traditional orange or red colour for the foxes, I thought I would turn them into Arctic foxes by keeping them a grey and white colour.

It matched my idea of using the Landscapes stencil to create snowdrifts. I used some texture paste and sprinkled superfine white glitter all over the top of it. The set of two stencils are the inverse of each other so it allows for some fun tricks, and I sponged on some blue ink into the gaps.

The second time I used my Landscapes stencils I made more of a country wheatfields kind of look by stamping the Landscapes Textures through it in a variety of orange and yellow tones.

I also turned the Oak Leaf die into a tree instead, and used this card as my Father's Day card!! My dad is a farmer so it made sense in my eyes ;-)

Also this month at Neat and Tangled we have been partnering with Benzie Design who make the most luscious felt. I got rather practical by starting work on Moriah's birthday invitations already (it's actually not until November, but it feels good to be organised!) using the Magical Day stamp set.

Inspired by the unicorn theme I used the Benzie felt to create a headdress she can wear to the party! I have more details and even a video tutorial on how to make these up on the Neat and Tangled blog HERE.

And you can find all the new release stamps, dies, stencils and sequins in the shop HERE.

PS. I'm giving away a Magical Day stamp set on my Instagram account this weekend. You can find me HERE.

Coffee is Love, Love is Coffee

I've been meaning to make something for the Coffee Lovers Bloghop pretty much every time they come around. After all.... I do love coffee! But I haven't found the opportunity before now.

Yay! Yesterday I coordinated a 2 year old and a 2 month old's naps and I got some time to craft!!
The theme (apart from coffee... or tea... or cocoa) is Fall and so I started by deciding on an appropriate colour scheme and then went from there.

I recently bought a new 6x6" stencil which I wanted to try out. It's called Buffalo Plaid by Carta Bella and I got mine HERE. I can see lots of possibilities with this and it was really fun to use! So that became the background for my card.

And then I used a combination of Neat and Tangled's Perfect Blend stamp set for the coffee cups, and Krumspring's Coffee is Love stamp set for the sentiment.

I filmed a very impromptu timelapse video of my process if you care to check it out! I'm not sure if it'll work very well here in Blogger, but I'll upload it to my Instagram account as well!

Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember!

I'm so excited to have been asked to contribute to the STAMPtember celebrations at Simon Says Stamp!

As part of the Neat and Tangled team I was sent the exclusive stamp set the two companies have released in collaboration. It's called 'Hello Pumpkin' and it is SUPER cute!! There are matching dies for this as well in case you don't like the fussy cutting involved ;-)

And here's what I've made with it...

I tried to work in as many of the stamps as I could (without going too crazy!) and I ended up with this story-book like scene. It was crying out to be watercoloured so that was the direction I took it.

Just as I was contemplating the fact I very rarely ever make one-layer cards (since I still don't consider myself a stamper and colourer) I decided that I really couldn't resist adding a touch of dimension, and those wood veneer arrows gained a place in the design ;-)

Something else that I really love about this set is that all proceeds from it's sale will be donated to support the medical bills that Danielle's father (Danielle is the founder of Neat and Tangled) is facing during his health battle. You can find more info about that on their GoFundMe page.

You can find this exclusive stamp set and dies at Simon Says Stamp! now. Remember, these are limited edition so once they're sold out they're gone forever.

And if you love this, you might also be interested in the new release products from Neat and Tangled. Some of the sets include the same characters you see here - that bear and mouse - in different scenarios. So cute!! Find them HERE.

Neat and Tangled's 5th Birthday Celebrations

August seems like it's a busy month - I've seen so many stamp and craft companies celebrate their birthdays this month! This weekend I'm going to share with you two companies that I'm lucky enough to work with, and the birthday celebrations that they've got going on.

Today I want to tell you all about Neat and Tangled!

Neat and Tangled are having their 5th birthday and they're going BIG with the celebrations. Earlier in the month we had a blog hop, and now on the blog they're showcasing a different guest designer every day until the end of the month! And of course, there's a bunch of new releases which are great for birthday and celebratory occasions.

I made this card combining quite a few of the new releases. The super cute stamp set is called "Wild Ones" and comes with lots of party animals - I've chosen only to feature the monkey for this card. Of course, there's a matching set of dies as well.

For the sentiment I've used the "Hooray" dies - love that there's a die for both the word and the shadow so you can do all sorts of mixing and matching. And I've stamped the "All the Sprinkles" stamp just along the edges of the background panels to help capture that party atmosphere!

My second card was where I wanted to branch out and do a bit of technique experimentation.

The "Balloon Duo" stencil has been REALLY popular and you can see why. It comes with two stencils which you can combine together to create a layered image, or of course you could just use them separately. I wanted to try out my new Distress Oxides on black cardstock because they turn out nice and opaque, and then I took it even one step further by adding shaded details with some Prismacolour pencils.

You can find all the new release Neat and Tangled products in their shop HERE.
And catch all the excitement on their blog HERE.

Happy birthday Neat and Tangled!!

A Card for Every Baby!

Soooo many people around me are having babies at the moment. And I don't just mean my patients! I mean, my friends, my colleagues and my family are all popping out little bundles of joy which means I need quite the stash of cards for baby showers and birth announcements etc etc. Here's a few that I've made recently....

Firstly, I've got this very non-traditional approach to a baby shower card. I mean, dinosaurs? But when I saw the little triceratops on the skateboard as well as the little hatchling then I knew it could work. Not biologically of course. But the cuteness factor is still there right?!

Plus, it was a great excuse to bust out this Neat and Tangled Prehistoric Stamp and Die set and give it some colour. It's one of my new favourites!

For this card I decided to gather all my cute little baby animal stamps from across a number of different sets and go with a more traditional pastel and floral approach ;-)

No actual baby-specific stamp sets here, in fact, the bear and bird are from a Neat and Tangled set called Lumberjack Love, and the rabbit, carrots and flowers are from an Easter set called Cottontail Cuties!

Thinking along similar lines of having a cluster of cute celebrating animals I also created this one. The main difference being that this IS a baby-themed stamp set. It's a much older Studio Calico set that's unfortunately no longer available.

I think I need to use my letter stickers on my cards more often - I love this look!

Lastly (for now at least) I made yet another similar version by stamping and embossing the baby animals over an inked background. To create the slightly bleached look I painted them with plain water before mopping up the excess. This removes some of the coloured ink as well which makes the images stand out more.

Are you crafting on this happy hump day? I hope so!
xx

Neat and Tangled July Release

My DT package from Neat and Tangled with all the new July release products arrived literally 3 days before I had the baby, so I already had it pre-arranged that I might not be able to contribute very much this month. But you know what? I haven't been able to help myself! The new sets are so cute and so usable that as soon as the kids are all in bed I've been in my craft room whipping up a few samples for you all (and lets be honest - crafting is my form of therapy, so it's been for me too!)

First up is this birthday card I made for my nephew who turned 7 this week. It features the stamp and die set called "Puppy's Favourite Things". My favourite thing about this set is the little die that cuts grooves under the his paws so you can make him hold any of these things. So many options!

Tough choices, but I went with the little present this time around.

I didn't consciously plan it, but after I coloured the dog in blue and put him on a blue background I realised that I had perfectly coordinated him with the new sequin mix called "Starry Night" so I scattered some of them around too.

My second card was so much more of a struggle and I seriously had to rework it about three times, but I finally got it to resemble something passable.....

Not that it was fault of the stamps - after all, look at this set! It's called "You Are a Gem" and is definitely on-trend. In fact, I think the reason I struggled with it was because I had so many ideas in my head they kept trying to all make their way onto a card at once and it was too much!

But once I simplified my ideas it was much better! And I do love those brightly saturated jewel tones I used in the background.

Next up is this card I created featuring a few of the new products mixed together.

The main focal point is this fabulous sentiment set called "Together" which is so versatile for making so many different variations for your title.

On this occasion I actually used the coordinating die set to cut out the word 'together' (I love that it comes with a die to cut out the actual word, as well as a die to cut out the shadow behind it) and matched it with the stamped phrase beneath it.

I also used the new "Modern Triangles" stencil to ink the background with. And if you're a fan of this geometric design you'll be happy to know it comes in a coverplate die version as well ;-)

Lastly I wanted to share these quick and simple cards I made in bulk (seriously... I made 12 of them!) for the girls to give to all their school teachers at the end of term last week.

It was also the girls last day at their current school. Since we moved house a couple of weeks ago we've needed to move the girls to a school that's closer to home, so after 5 and a half years there we had to say goodbye. It definitely warranted a bunch of cards for everyone.

So I couldn't have been happier to get the "Schoolhouse" stamp set at the exact time I needed them! Since I was making so many cards I stuck to a very simple design, and by creating this faux-chalkboard look I stuck to the theme!

So what's your favourite from the new release? And if you can't make up your mind, remember that there's always a GET IT ALL option! LOL! ;-)

The new release is now live in the Neat and Tangled shop right HERE.
