The Story of Dora at a Dedication

There's been a whole lotta crafting around here in my time off. There's some pretty darn exciting things happening next month scrappy-wise. But of course, that just means I can't share any of it yet :-)

So I've been going through my archives and figuring out what I haven't showed you yet. And for some reason, this mini-album I made when I was a Guest Designer with Jenni Bowlin back in March hasn't made it to my blog.

And it seriously is "mini"! It's only about 4x4". It fits nicely inside this vintage cigar-box which makes it great for storage purposes.... and looks pretty cute too.

The second-most fabulous thing that came in the Mini-Album Kit is the Printed Pockets which I've been able to hide all sorts of journaling and memorabilia in. Perfect for me ;-)

The photos are a bunch of Hipstamatic prints (remember Hipstamatic? It was before Instagram. Or at least that's how I think of it!) from the day we celebrated both Munchy's 5th birthday and Moodle's Dedication. Yes.... that was a while ago. About exactly a year ago in fact.

After the Church service we all had lunch and a "party" in the park. It was such a lovely Spring day and the girls had a bunch of fun. One of the presents Munchy received was her Dora the Explorer chef's apron and hat.. which is why she looks like she's in fancy-dress for the event.

But really, it was also just a great excuse to document the girls interacting with all their family members - especially the one's we don't get to see a lot. You can see there were hugs all-round.

The vintage theme of these Jenni Bowlin Magpie goodies matches perfectly with the Hipstamatic photos don't you think? I'm so happy with how this album turned out. Sorry for the delay in sharing!

The Story of Inspiration.... and a Winner!

I've woken up and it's daylight outside! Yay!! Thank goodness for another month of nightshift that's behind me. To celebrate I wanted to share this very sunny (and cloudy) card I made for Flourish With a Bling last month. It's definitely time to embrace getting outdoors in the elements again. I've got to boost my Vitamin D!!

But I also owe you a winner for my Spring Giveaway don't I? Firstly I wanted to thank you for all the entertainment you girls gave me. I checked out many blogs, I read your stories and I had a laugh along with some of the things you shared.

Now, I used Random.Org to choose my winner, but I couldn't have been happier when the figures pointed to the winner being ........ LIZZY HILL. Her comment had me crying in hysterics as I tried to suppress the laughter ('cos patients were asleep and all) so she totally deserves this win in more ways that one. Plus - I think she's earned herself some good fortune. You'll see what I mean if you read her comment!

Lizzy - email me your postal address and I'll try and get your prize out to you ASAP.

PS. I've also got another video tutorial up on the Scrap Friends blog. It's all about adding Shaker Boxes to your layout. Here's a sneak of what I'm talking about....

The Story of 100 Days

Munchy absolutely loves going to school. Something that I am entirely grateful for. I guess I was exactly the same at her age.. and well... pretty much still am given I'm still studying 25 years later!

She was super-excited to celebrate her "100 days of school" about a month ago. They had activities at school which included making this mask and crown I snapped a pic of, and even a BBQ that The Man helped out with. So it was kinda a big deal and she had been looking forward to it for ages.
I used the delicious new Scrap Friends Yummy Scrap Colour Combo for this page. The colours are so bright and airy and Springy don't you think? They're definitely colours I had in my stash... but I'm all up for an excuse to go shopping, so I started browsing through the Scrap Friends Shop.

You can do a search by colour which makes it really easy, and I came across this range from Kesi'Art which was absolutely perfect so that's what I've mainly used here.

That transparency in the background is from Colour Conspiracy and costs way less that what you normally expect to pay for transparencies. I just love that Scrap Friends stock all these exclusive overseas brands of paper and embellishments. I don't think you can get these anywhere else in Australia.

I've journaled about the amazing transformation that Munchy has done in only 100 days. She's learnt an incredible amount, and grown in so many areas. She loves her reading and writing and art and music, and it just astounds me what she's been able to accomplish.

But speaking of amazing - and that's what all the other DT Girls, and Guest DT Girls have done with this colour combo. It's really got to be seen to be believed. And once you're all inspired why don't you play along with us too? There's a chance to win a $25 store voucher!

The Story of Puddle Jumping

I'm sharing another Amy Tangerine Sketchbook layout today, 'cos I'm all hyped up after getting to meet Amy Tan recently :-) In fact the dear lady herself has just blogged about her Down-Under tour and my face makes an appearance in two of her photos! sqeal!!!

There's oodles of photos in her post, but see in photo no#3 and no#6? - that's me with the grey crochet cardi and coral scarf.............. and now you all know how short I am too hey?! LOL! And what's more: she's linked up to my blog at the end where I posted about her visit here.

But now back to this layout! It's a fun mixture of Crate Paper and Studio Calico papers with some neon Heidi Swapp highlights along with the Sketchbook collection (all sourced from Scrap Friends). I love the brightness of this in contrast to the wintery puddle-jumping photo of my Moodles.

And because I just added another handful of new colours of Liquid Pearls to my stash I couldn't help but add a liberal sprinkling of them to my page as well. Little raindrops everywhere :-)

Now don't forget about my Spring Giveaway that's still happening. This is hump-night for me right now. Night 4 out of 7, which means there's still a few more days to enter the giveaway. All the details are here.
