The Story of the Wood Veneer Horses

I believe it's ok just to go super-simple on a page sometimes. Let the photo be the centrepiece and let the papers and embellishments shine for themselves without a bunch of techniques distracting you. Now I love a bunch of techniques like the rest of them - one of the reasons why I scrapbook is so I can try out new and fabulous techniques all the time. But when I sat down to scrap with the latest Studio Calico release "South of Market" I just wanted something super-simple to show off all my favourite bits!

When I first got my hands on the collection I was immediately struck by all the bright colours and the fruit motifs and general 'harvest' theme. I can foresee lots of Spring pages being made in my future!

But on second glance I also began to notice all my favourite softer colours represented in the collection too. The pink, yellow, green and pale blue. The vellum and the transparency. The book paper (oh boy do I have plans with that book paper!), and the wooden veneer animals. Bethany has recently just been to a horse-riding birthday party and so those veneer horses were calling my name and demanding to be stacked in a cluster ;-)

I couldn't fail to notice all the stars embellishments in this collection too. Stars are still my favourite, and South of Market has got white and woodgrain star sequins and a new embellishment - clear plastic diecut stars! I sprayed mine with some Opaque White Mister Hueys on the back of it to make it stand out more before attaching it to my page with some machine stitches. So even though this page doesn't really call for stars, well... honestly, I didn't really care. They were going on regardless!

As you can see, I'm very excited about all the possibilities of South of Market. And I'm super excited to say the whole collection has just been released in the Studio Calico shop. Click on the images below to go shopping ;-) There's some coordinating FREE digital items here too!

And right now you have the opportunity to add these to your cart and get free shipping on all orders over $35! Better be quick though before it all sells out!
