Summer Lovin'

Twine? Who doesn't have oodles of twine in their stash?!

The twine theme at Scrapz.biz was bound to be an easy one for people to join in with. I guess the trick for us as designers was going to be trying to use it in interesting ways.

To make it even trickier for me, my challenge for the twine week was a 'Scrap it Blind' which tends to get me thinking a bit more laterally (read: linear, graphic, straight lines....boring!) with my layouts as I know I have to describe to someone else how to put it together without any pictures.

As you can see, ultimately I went with using the twine as my sunrays, which doubled up as journaling lines. A little bit cute, and quirky.

Kinda like me ;-)

Young At Heart

Alright... here I go in a serious attempt at blogging LOTS this coming week ;-)

I snapped this silly photo of The Man at a Christmas party last year, and it was too funny not to scrap :-) I used it as an opportunity to journal about how much he loves to laugh... even at ridiculous things like this joke cup!

I called it 'Young At Heart' and quoted him saying that sometimes he still feels like a 12-year-old boy when it comes to his sense of humour. He finds champagne-comedy the highest form of wit. He thinks fart noises are funny. You know, typical boy stuff.

Meanwhile, I had such fun layering up the Whatnots from Glitz Designs with cut out pieces of the Fancy Pants papers from 'It's the Little Things' collection. And I was happy to find a use for that boy out of the October Afternoon Sidewalks miscellany.

The whole focus of my page (product-wise) was those brads though. This was my Scrapz.biz DT page for 'brad week', and I used an abundance of them here to add lots of colour and texture to my bird. You should see the back of my page on this one.... it's like a hardware shop!

Soaring

Sorry for the blogging silence, but this scrappy doctor has been looking after two sick kids and one sick Man. Whilst on holidays. On the farm.

Not much fun.

I've been finding some time to scrap, or at least to start some projects that are now just waiting for me to get back home and add my paint and mist and sewing. All the things that are difficult to take on holidays, but for me my pages aren't complete without them.

But I've got lots of 'older' pages I can share with you. For the last couple of months at Scrapz.biz our weekly challenges have been product focused. For example, I made this page when our weekly 'ingredient' was tape.

I've got bunches of this stuff in my stash let me assure you! So great for adding little splashes of colour and a bit of different texture. You can see all my layers of tape under my word stickers in the top right corner which made a great little embellishment cluster of a kind :-)

At first glance you might not have noticed that the red layers are all tape as well. Makes for a quick and easy  highlight, whilst sticking things in place at the same time! Win Win!

In fact, this page was for my "Fetch a Sketch" challenge, so I based my layout on this sketch I whipped up for the occasion. Over the next few days I want to share with you the pages I made for the flowers, chipboard, brads, paint, mist, twine and rubon challenges too. Stay tuned!

Golden Autumn

If you're looking for the Once Upon a Sketch bloghop with all it's prizes it's here...

Meanwhile, I was super-inspired by all this sketch lovin' and went and found a few more, this time over at Stuck Sketches. And using my old "Into the Woods" Studio Calico kit I quickly whipped up this layout.

The sketch looks like this, so you can see I had to change it just a little bit for my purposes.

I feel like all I'm scrapping lately is my Instagram photos, but honestly it's all about my real life. These days 99% of my photos are taken with my i-Phone and all my favourites go into Instagram, so when it comes time to printing then that's where I start. If you want to see what I'm talking about, then check out my feed here.

Not sure I quite captured the vision that was in my head, mainly because of that slightly questionable title-work. But I really love the colours in this. Those warm autumnal colour-schemes get me every time - and the blue is a fresh new twist but I think it works?

Well, I gotta go pack for the holidays. But don't worry, I've got a whole heap of outstanding projects to share with you whilst I'm gone.

That's outstanding, as in, 'overdue'. Not 'fabulous'.
They might be fabulous...... but that's for you to judge :-) We'll see.

ETA: So I kept thinking about the reasons why I was dissatisfied with this layout and eventually got the courage to rip up most of my title. I felt it was too distracting. Here's the new version:

Tell me what you think. Long title or no?

Once Upon a Sketch Birthday Blog Hop

Welcome to Once Upon A..Sketch' s first birthday blog hop! It is so exciting to have you here and we hope you are inspired along the way to join in the fun and get creative!!You should have arrived here from the fabulously talented Bente Fagerberg's blog, but if you haven't you need to go back to the beginning of the list below so you don't miss out.

(please note that due to time differences there could be some broken links..please check back later as the blogs will be updated asap)

Our new MONTHLY challenge has just been released! Each Design Team member has created their own  layout based on this sketch and journalling criteria and you need to follow the above list to see what they came up with.

We would love to see what you create, so please link your project to back at the Once Upon A...Sketch blog. You DO NOT have to participate in the blog hop to enter this challenge.

Here is this month's challenge....

April Challenge

The theme of this challenge is HOME.
We would like you to create a layout and interpret the theme "HOME" however you like based on the following sketch. You can journal as little or as much as you like, but your layout must incorporate this theme and the sketch.

And here is my example...

I think most of us on the DT were all thinking along similar lines by interpreting the theme of "home" as the people we loved, rather than the actual building where we live. I have to admit, because we have been moving around so much in recent years I don't tend to get too attached to the house we live in. That's why I preferred to do a layout about me and The Man. But you can chose to interpret it however you like!

Our main sponsor of this blog hop is ....

 Imaginarium Designs

You can see I've used the fabulous Imaginarium Designs heart-top fence in my layout. These pieces are so intricately cut and there's none of that dusty black soot everywhere :-)
Imaginarium Designs chipboard is donating this prize to one lucky winner of the blog hop.

This prize pack includes AUS$70.00 worth of chipboard PLUS inks PLUS Spray Mists PLUS free postage to anyone in the world. I wish I could enter!! LOL!
