The Story of Two Happy Cabbage Patch Dolls

Oh yes, it's too good to be true isn't it? Two of my favourite scrappy places to hang out have combined forces for one great big challenge extravaganza!

This month at Scrap Friends we have teamed up with Jenni Bowlin Studios for the current Yummy Scrap Colour Combo challenge! Which means we have been super-lucky to score some creative inspiration from a few of the JBS Design Team members as our guest designers, and that JBS are sponsoring the prize (which is something you have to see to believe!)

For a start - here's the Colour Combo inspiration piece we're working with this month. Isn't it gorgeous?! These are totally my type of colours so I found it quite easy to work with them. I know my background paper appears quite purpley (which obviously isn't one of the colours) but it actually graduates from a blue at one end, to a red at the other so I figured that still counted? Maybe?!

Most of my material list for this page are new products at Scrap Friends, like the Basic Grey Soleil and ILS Vivid collections (I've soooo been looking forward to these) but of course I've included a few sneaky JBS products as well. See that Love card? And those Stars? They're both from the November Kit Cuts released at JBS this month. I've literally used those stars on about 4 projects by now..... me loves!!!

The journaling on this one is about how my kids always find the toys at their grandparents house always so much more interesting than their own that they bring with them. They do have a lovely collection of (now vintage!) toys including these two Cabbage Patch Dolls which they will carry around with them wherever they go... including when we went out for lunch this one time.

Anyway, speaking of vintage lovliness.... check out the prize that Jenni Bowlin Studio is donating as the prize for this challenge! It's chock-a-block with classic JBS and some of the newly released lines as well. I wish I could enter!!

So I'm hoping we'll see a tonne of entries for this challenge. If you want to see what the JBS Guests have created, as well as our 'regular' guests, and the rest of the team, then check it out over on the Scrap Friends blog. I'll see you there!

The Story of a Precious Baby Girl

It's almost turning into a card blog here lately isn't it? LOL! I go through stages with making cards it seems. The main reason is that right now my stash is low so I need to replenish ;-)

And what better way to get you motivated than the current challenge at Flourish With a Bling? This month it happens to be a sketch challenge. Although you don't actually have to make a card - some of the other DT girls have just as easily interpreted it into a layout.

The only other requirement for the challenge apart from following the sketch is to include some FWAB products into your creation. For mine I chose to use one of the new luxurious Elise flourishes - the two flowers that come with the bling formed the embellishments you see in the sketch.

And the 'left-over' part of the flourish I ended up putting inside the card for an extra bit of indulgence. After all - this is card I was giving to one of my best friends who just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. If that's not an excuse for product pampering then I don't know what is?!

It would be great to see you guys giving this challenge a go. The prize on offer is a fabulous bunch of bling. All the details can be found on the FWAB blog here. Good luck!

The Story of More Boy Bling

So I'm going to try much harder this month to take part in a few challenges if I can find the time. Starting with this one ('cos it's easy!)

So I made this card (above). It's a complete Scrap Lift of Sarah Martina Parker's card (below). But that's the idea! It's one of the current challenges going on the Russian Scrap Lifting blog.

I changed it up a bit though whilst keeping the colour scheme and important details the same.

Like filling the background of my letters with aluminum foil because I didn't any silver doilies! Hee heee :-) Lucky for me I've got an abundance of FWAB bling in all the right colours so that part was a breeze.

I had in mind that I was going to use this as a baby boy card. But when I mentioned that to The Man he was rather surprised. More about it being for a boy, rather than it being for a baby. Can I get away with it do you think?

The Story of a Poker Champion

Sorry for my bloggy absence. That's what a week of night duty followed by a week of holidays will do to a person! I've been studying hard whilst I work, and then holidaying hard and doing a bit of this....

That be playing card games and scrapbooking!

My family have always been a bit fond of the games. We play whatever strikes our fancy. 500, Pictionary, Boggle. I even convinced them to join with me in plenty of rounds of Scumbags and Warlords when I was a student.

But what with my dad's name actually being James Bond (no joke... that's true!) it was surely only a matter of time before we turned to Poker :-) And it turns out he's actually quite the Poker Champion. Naturally. Recently he entered a competition that ultimately ended up with him coming like 40th in the country.

So with my Dad's new-found obsession with poker, that's now become our game of choice. Whenever we get together as a family - this is what we do.
