Slowly Creeping Back

When Suzanne from Handmade by Suzanne sent me a lovely package full of the Fancy Pants Roadshow Collection I was thrilled to see this stunning frame transparency included, and I knew I needed to something extra-special with it. Not that every page isn't special mind you! But I wanted this page to be something that was worthy of being 'framed' :-)

The only problem with transparencies are.... they are so hard to photograph! This looks so much better in real life. In this photo I've backed it with some American Crafts cardstock (similar to this colour - which I simply looove!) to try and give you a better view of it.

But then again, the great thing about transparencies is that you can so easily experiment with the finished look by trying out different papers/card to mount them on...... or just leave it like it is!

For example, in my mind I thought it might look good with some plain cardboard behind it. It looks like this:

And so I realised that I don't really like it at all! I changed back to my River Reed colour for the detail photos.

I used my Imaginisce I-Top (which is now in store) to make most of the brads for this page. I used the Dainty Print paper to make the red brad, one of the ribbons to make the black and white brad, and a button rub-on to make the big one. My husband says it looks just like a big eye, and now I can't help but look at it the same way! But check out the packet of rub-ons and see which one I chose.

It doesn't look like an eye does it?!!! It just looks like a glorious vintage button right? Right?!

You can see some more rub-ons in this detail shot. The butterfly trails are all cut from the white flourish, there's more vintage buttons on the butterflies, and the journal lines are all rub-ons too  (I cut out the MTWTFSS bit because it didn't really suit my purposes here). See.... don't be afraid to cut up your rub-ons into smaller bits - it totally works!

And if you pop on over to the HBS site you can check out the fantastic sale she's having right now (30% off the Fancy Pants Roadshow Collection for example!) and while you're there you can follow along with the tutorial I posted about how to make these folded butterflies. It's a lot easier than it might appear at first glance.

:-)

And don't forget about the sketch challenge either. You could win yourself a $20-$30 voucher for HBS
