The Story of the Wild Thing (and a giveaway)

The SC/APOCD Blog Hop is still going on. For your chance to win a 6-month subscription to Scrapbook Creations and a bunch of loveliness from A Piece of Cake Designs then scroll down to my previous post

When I posted the new collection of Puffy Stickers from Evalicious on my Instagram account the crowd went wild! And I can't blame them. I just love this new product from Evalicious and I was sooo lucky to be able to play with them. And if you read to the bottom of this post you might just have a chance to WIN some too!

But first... my project. Having gone a little card-crazy lately I needed to return to making layouts, and boy was I a little rusty. I must have shuffled things around on this for hours. Probably because I was trying to fit so many of the new delicious Evalicious products in, and sometimes I need to remind myself that 'less is more'. I'm not very good at that ;-)

I picked out some of the mint-green, pink and woodgrain colours from the Everyday collection and layered in lots of cute tags, tabs and stickers. I even cut into one of the Large Tags and made it into a photo frame. The Puffy Stickers came last because they were the perfect finishing touch.

I'd like to think my girls are basically good at heart. In fact, I know they are. But they're young and in their growing, exploring, seeking, striving and stretching they will always push the boundaries. The tantrums that can come of their little bodies is quite incredible. Arms flapping, legs kicking, high-pitched screaming. Yep, sometimes they delve 'into the wild'.
And then I overhear a conversation that reminds me of their true character ....

My eldest takes hold of her sister's shoulders and says, "listen to me now. You're special no matter what. You don't need any fancy clothes, you're special because you're you."

So with that joy in my heart I offer you this little GIVEAWAY!!

Want to win some of your own Evalicious Puffy Stickers and Badge Buttons? Simply leave me a comment here telling me something about your own 'wild things' (interpret that as you wish!) Open internationally, I'll draw a winner Saturday 2nd. Good luck!

  1. OMG, Natalie! The use of that paper --- speechless --- and how perfect those puffy stickers are!!! *swoon* And as for "wild things"... well, let's just say I'm raising a boybarian horde, so I'm soooo feelin' ya on this one. Congrats on another stellar page. *big love*

  2. Lordy, that's a gorgeous page! So in love with the layering and each little goodie, but my favorite part is the splashes of white in the background - terrific! Those little cameras - how adorable! The woodgrain on the flair? Love! I have two that are 14 months apart. In my mind's eye, they are still 3 and 4, but in reality they are 16 and 17 and one is about off to college - **tears** - thank goodness I have tons of pictures I can always scrap of them, though :) Loving that puffy goodness!

  3. Oh, man....couldn't resist having a go for these YUMMY-licious goodies...& I'm liking the kraft bg with that diagonal white 'stitching'....really makes the layers pop up ....wild things...you mean the boy who was "...only playing fights like we always do at school. It's not my fault they made their fort in front of the class windows. Throwing rocks, Mum? We ALWAYS do that. Just I sorta missed them & got the window..." Guess who was the wild thing after hearing THAT little 'story'. Not to mention having to pay for said window AND carting him over to Saturday Detention. He spent a LOT of time cleaning my bathrooms to make money to pay me back....soooo it wasn't all bad. I hate cleaning loos.......

  4. That background paper is awesome!! Perfect match!
To be honest, my lil girl is kinda tame. She has never had a full on tantrum, thats not to say she doesn't have any attitude, there is plenty of that. She is just so easy going and happy 95% of the time. The other 5% is when she is tired and sooky. The wild thing is probably my partner when he goes to the pub (not very often anymore), all sense of time/deadline go complete out the window, he will always be the last man standing! And this Saturday he came home with 3 pool balls and a cue because the pub lost the huge meat tray that he won.

    1. Ummm..... I hope you've got a pool table for yourself so you can make use of those things?! Sounds like you've got yourself someone to balance out the seemingly angelic nature of your little girl ;-) Hee heee.... the adventures you must have!

  8. Love all the bits and pieces in your layout. I'm kind of glad to hear it didn't flow easy, as that is always the way with me when it comes to bits and pieces - too much time spent trying to get it right! My wild things are 2 and 3 - one minute it's "are you my best friend today?", the next they're wrestling on the ground and definitely not best friends. :) Thanks for the giveaway.

    1. Yeah, so I kinda piled everything on there, then pulled half of it off and then threw a few extras on instead! It's a constant balancing game for me, and this one took ages! Still not 100% happy with it. I think the fabulous background paper helps a LOT!!

    1. Ha! I'd like to suggest I had done something really artistic and spectacular here... but no, it's just the paper! I can't find it online anymore (I got it ages ago) but here's another paper from the range to give you an idea what it looks like....

  10. When my "wild thing " arrived after a 4 hour labour and a week early, I was grateful I had no idea what was to come.
Teenage was so hard for us. One on one. Her emotions were all over the place. Her artistic streak came out and my rebel became an artist. She drew her way through the tough 'self-doubt" times. It made me think there must be something in this,so I took up scrapping. It keeps me sane. My dd is now 27 and lovely, but deep down the "wild child" is still there.Your layout is awesome and the giveaway would be fantastic to win.

    1. Oh that's really interesting. I'm glad she found something to channel all her energies into, and that it even inspired your own scrapping journey. I guess we continue to learn from each other as parents and children. It definitely goes both ways.

    1. Kim... it's an old paper by the scrapbook company ICC (which I think is French??!). I can't find the exact one I used online anymore, and in fact can only find just the one from the same range. But this should give you an idea of what it was like...

  12. What an awesome LO! The background paper really makes it pop and you used it so well! I only have one 'wild thing' but that 4yr old certainly puts us through it! We just look at each other and shake our heads. His personality is either going to get him in a lot of trouble or give him the confidence to succeed. I certainly hope it's the latter! TFS!
