Card making has become a real passion of mine recently (you may have noticed!!) to the point where I would say I am just as comfortable and excited making cards as I am scrapbooking. That's something I never would have imagined a couple of years ago. I always thought you were either one or the other ;-)
But I live a busy life, and as much as I love crafting I just don't have hours and hours to dedicate to it. As a Mum of two girls with another on the way, and still working full time I'm lucky to make it into my craft room some days at all! And let me tell you, those girls have hectic social lives. Just this weekend gone we had two birthday parties to attend, and received invitations to two more for the following weekend. There's 4 birthday cards I 'need' to make right there!
So that's why I love this idea of being able to create Flashy Cards Fast. Is it possible to make a decent card in under 5 minutes? I think it is!! Let me show you...
This is the card I whipped up for the video. Layers of torn tulle is what I've added under the journaling card ('cos I know it was a little hard to see) It adds some lovely soft texture, plus I'm all about using up whatever supplies you've got on hand.
During the 5 weeks of November I'll be showing you how to make 25 different cards on a time budget. These will range from cards made in 1 minute to cards made in 20 minutes. Each will include step by step instructions, and many will come with a video sharing my creative process from beginning to end.
Every week will focus on a different occasion including Babies, Birthdays and Bereavement. There will be feminine cards and masculine cards. But every single one will be totally adaptable to your own occasion and particular style. There won't be any prescribed supplies for the class because I want you to be able to take whatever materials you've got in your craft room and put them to good use! This class will also be about using up your hoarded stash ;-)
There will be lots and lots of techniques covered too. Paper layering is a favourite of mine, and I'll share some tricks on how to match different colours and patterns. But other techniques include stamping, die-cutting, creating shaker cards, origami and a good healthy dose of Mixed Media!! Check out some of my other sneaks here to see what I mean.
Studio Calico have generously donated this fabulous prize which includes items from their September Card Kit to get one lucky winner stashed up for their card making journey! I've actually used this same kit in a few of my cards for the class and can vouch for how handy it is. Especially that stamp set - it's a really useful one to have on hand. So far I've used it on an Engagement card, a New Baby card and a general Congratulations card!
To WIN everything you see here, all you need to do is leave a comment on this post. Tell me whether you consider yourself a cardmaker or not, tell me what you'd like to see in a card class, let me know if you feel confident making Flashy Cards Fast.... I don't mind what you say! Just leave a comment!
Want a second chance to win? Pop over to the Papercut Labs blog and leave a comment on this post to be entered again!
Open internationally. We'll draw a winner on Wednesday 22nd October at 8pm AEST. Good luck!
I didn't consider myself a cardmaker until SC's challenges for WCMD ;-). Now I want to really learn everything there is to know about cardmaking.
ReplyDeleteMy SC username is pipapo!
DeleteI am a cardmaker, because I do cards, but I'm not a good card maker. Really….! I consider myself a good scrapbooker though and I don't know why I can't let it flow onto my cards…. sigh! :) Thanks for the chance to win!!
ReplyDeleteI used to consider myself a card maker, but lately I have not made time for it.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see templates that can be used again and again.
I would not say that I am comfortable making flashy cards fast, so I sounds like this class would be perfect for me!
Thanks the chance to win!!
The class sounds awesome! I don't consider myself a card maker per say, but I do make cards, more when I need to give them. It's just not my main creative outlet as scrapbooking is.
ReplyDeleteMaking cards fast is definitely a card topic I'd like to see.
I would not say that I'm confident in making cards FAST. (Quite a slow poke here, lol.)
Thanks for a chance to win!
I consider myself to be new to card making. I make our Christmas cards and cards for special occasions. If I took a card class I would like to see stamping techniques for cards.
ReplyDeleteI definitely consider myself a cardmaker, but I am also definitely NOT fast. I tend toward time consuming when it comes to crafting. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI am not a cardmaker but am trying to do it, although painstakingly slow. I enjoy the act of making the card but what takes most of my time is thinking of the design. username Brinkleyboy
ReplyDeleteI am primarily a card maker....though I started out as a scrapbooker. When I went to photography school, I kind-of quit scrapbooking. (Weird, right?! Lol!) But, I've always made cards & I love that they are tiny little pieces of art that don't take as long to create. I've started dabbling in digital scrapbooking, and I love it! I think I am going to focus on digi Project Life next year, and then hopefully do more if we ever are blessed to have a child!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE cardmaking. I would call that my passion. I love sending happy mail and making someone else's day. Of course I love making layouts as well... and PL spreads... and... I just love paper!! :) LOVE your 5 minute card. It's crazy beautiful. :)
ReplyDeleteI am both a card maker and a scrapbooker. I love to create both ways. Sometimes the leftover pieces from a layout are just the right pieces for a fabulous card too.
ReplyDeleteI consider myself a novice cardmaker but mostly a scrapper. I would love to learn how to make a card look "professional" without using time-consuming techniques. (be simple but still look "polished") I am a slow scrapper/crafter so if my time is limited I tend to go simple. Being a "novice" I am not yet confident in my cardmaking (especially "flashy") cardmaking abilities.
ReplyDeleteI do make cards but I don't consider myself a "card maker" because my cards aren't "stunning". I have some friends who do make stunning cards. So this class sounds interesting to me.
ReplyDeleteI love to make homemade cards! I feel that they are more personally and made with love than store bought ones! ;) I would love to win!
ReplyDeleteI make cards sometimes....some are successful....some are not lol. Love doing it though!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE making cards, and almost never buy a storebought anymore. It's such a nostalgic sort of thing, sending a handmade card in the mail (especially for my generation - I'll be 30 next year!). That class sounds amazing, and thanks to SC for the generous prize donation!
ReplyDeleteNon mi considero una cardmaker, ma mi sono molto divertita a creare cards durante il wcmd
ReplyDeleteI love making cards, but I would love to learn how to make them fast...thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteSuper fun post! Looks like a really wonderful class and a great idea! I do make cards and when I do they are labors of love with lots of personalization (favorite colors, activities, flowers, animals, drinks...) I have the luxury of creating for specific people and I have lots of fun supplies to work with. Thanks so much for sharing today and for the chance to win some awesome goodies!
ReplyDeleteIm new to card making so love seeing any of your cards as they are so inspiring. I also love the SC products and stamps. Thanks for the chance :)
ReplyDeletei started making cards first then i moved on to scrapbook and then to PL. i still like to make my own cards to give away though
ReplyDeleteI like making cards, but don't consider myself a card maker. I already signed up for the SC Sending Joy class so I won't be taking another one so soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a card maker, but I love making them with my mom. It's definitely the best time we get together whenever we sit down and craft. Both she and I love your designs, and will gain a ton of ideas and QT together by taking your class (she's crunched for time, aren't we all?). I'd give her the SC card kit if I won ;)
ReplyDeleteI would love to take a a "Flashy Card Fast"!!! I love cards!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a card maker but love to try techniques to improve!
ReplyDeleteI don't consider myself a card maker I'm a scrapper. However, I cannot bring myself to pay for a card when I have so many beautiful things on hand to play with and create with. So although I don't make a constant stream of cards I do make cards when the occasion arises. Hmmm, does this make me a card maker? I'm not so sure now.
ReplyDeleteI dont consider myself a card maker. But i look at all these cards being made and I so badly want to be! They are allll so beautiful! So, for a class i would like to see ton's of things! :)
ReplyDeleteSeeing as I really have never made one before I don't know specific things to look for in one :)
Thanks for the giveaway!
i am typically a page scrapper but have started getting interested in cards to use things up
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the idea of a quick card. I tend to use up my SC kits by making as many tags and gift cards as possible once I am done with the layouts.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely a card maker! I love quick, easy cards that look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI'm new on card making. I enjoy doing them, some are a success some not. I don't know how to make a card fast, so I could learn a lot on your classes.
ReplyDeletei would like to be a cardmaker actually! but the problem is i tend to hoard the things i like, hehe.. and i dont know how im going to make cards and use up things on something that wont go into my album ^_^"
ReplyDeleteSC username: basoom234
Love it.. I used to make tons of cards.. now more a pocket page scrapbooker and art journaler.. oooh this looks like fun. thks for the giveaway..I'd love love this set! xo
ReplyDeleteLove the SC products! I am firstly a scrapper who makes cards because i have the stuff (A LOT of stuff!). I struggle making cards so this class would be one I would consider.
ReplyDeleteSC username: Memoriesbymanda
I love making cards, but I always struggle to find simple designs that can be made quickly but still look impressive so I find myself often repeating the same old cards designs over and over. I would love to see a variety of card sketches in a class.
ReplyDeleteI love making cards, and even try to sell them, so I suppose I consider myself a card maker (although I know my husband and friends believe I am more talented than I do). Some days it comes easy (a good kit or line) and other days not so much. I love the idea of flashy cards fast and can't wait to see more. With 4 boys under the age of 7 anything that doesn't take too much time is at the top of my list.
ReplyDeleteI'm a cardmaker, love to make cards for different occasions but my favorites are birthday and Christmas cards. I will love to see how to make different techniques in card classes. Thanks for the chance to win those SC goodies.
ReplyDeleteI'm a lapsed card maker, my interest this year moving into PL and Filofax - eeek!. I'm also very SLOOOOOOOWWWWWW at everything because I take FOREVER to make a decision. Your class sounds like heaps of fun but I bet I could turn those Flashy Cards Fast into Flashy Cards Slow in no time at all :)
ReplyDeleteI used to make cards all the time, now I make cards some times. I love modern simpler designs - would be great to have a range of suitable card templates/sketches to use. thanks for the chance to win xx
ReplyDeleteI only make card for those that appreciate them =)
ReplyDeleteBut with Christmas on its way it will be tag making time real soon!!!
Thanks for the chance to win!
I enjoy making cards but don't consider myself a card maker. Love the stamp set!!

Deletei love scrapping and i have really tried hard to incorporate more card making into my crafting. but i find myself getting stuck. i often see beautiful cards made by others and like to use that for inspiration, but its hard not to lift someone's ideas, when mine never seem to turn out right. whenever i want to make a special card for someone very special, that's when i draw a blank, and then i just sit there at my desk with nothing. or at worse something that i don't believe is good enough. so going to try to keep at and winning this kit would be great.

I'm a scrapper who is learning to make cards
DeleteI do cards occasionally but its enough to stress me out 😀😆 but its still satisfying though
ReplyDeleteI consider myself a scrapbooker but occasionally I try to make a card. So far they are just so so and stressful.
ReplyDeleteI have to say after watching the video I think I could make a card or two...especially with a few extra supplies...lol Thanks for the chance and the awesome video!!!
ReplyDeleteI call myself a dabbler... I like to do anything crafty with my hands including cards! They are are always great to create when I need to get some of my creative juices flowing. What I like to see in a card class would be the ability to batch create. I love doing note card stacks as gifts.
ReplyDeleteI do consider myself a card maker, but find that I have an inclination towards layouts and they come together easier for me. I do love having handmade cards on hand for all occasions!
ReplyDeleteI was a card maker a while ago but have since for used solely on PL. I make a card here or there. I'm excited to see what types of things your class has to offer.
ReplyDelete:-)
I am so not a card maker but I want to learn how and that stamp is really gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely! I want to start making cards!
ReplyDeleteI am certainly a cardmaker as well as a scrapbooker, I really enjoy it! This kit is lovely, I'd love to play with the stamp and with these pretty papers! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI love to create selfmade cards and I would love to use the paper pads and the stamps.
ReplyDeleteI do make cards for birthdays and Christmas. Not much else though.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge card maker - I love homemade cards. I love the tutorials because they help me in this stage of card making. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWow! I loved your video!
ReplyDeleteI don't consider myself as a cardmaker... but maybe because I don't take the time to do it, or don't try things... I used to draw and paint when I was younger (well, I'm 37 now!) and let it go...
I only create some cards and labels around Xmas...
I love the SC stamps and wish I can afford some one day!
I am a Cardmaker as well as a Scrapbooker. My heart goes pitter-patter when creating cards becuz I love seeing the look on friends and family members faces when they recieve my creations. the flashy cards fast is such a great idea and I would totally use those! this giveaway would be so great for me. Im already thinking of what I can create with this set!!! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI am a last-minute card maker!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy makin
ReplyDeletecooladam1 at live dot comg cards , the kids have fun with it too
I started as a cardmaker who later branched in scrapbooking. Congrats on your new class !
ReplyDeleteI love making cards and love that my hubby now comes to me when he needs a card. Lovely prize, thanks for the chance. SC id = AmyBugCrafts
ReplyDeleteI don't consider myself a card maker at all but have been known to throw one together in a pinch. I'd love to learn to make simple beautiful cards!
ReplyDeleteI go back and forth between scrapbooking and making cards, and lately I am definitely a card maker. I do take a long time to make a card though, especially when I am putting together a prototype. So it would be wonderful to have a class of ideas to make beautiful cards in a flash! I love the idea. And hope to see some new techniques as well.
ReplyDeleteI love making cards, don't get to as often as I would like though, so a class that shows quick cards would be great. Thank you for the chance to win

I'm a scrapper/crafter/card maker. A kind of Jill of all trades! I'd love to see "using digital kits" in your paper card making in a class. I'm not sure about Flashy Cards Fast... but I'd love to try.
ReplyDeleteI'm a very new card maker. I am practicing now sort of I make cards to surprise my daughter after school. I'd like to expand my skill and confidence. I've been scrapbooking about a year now. Thanks very much for a chance to win. Michelle t
ReplyDeleteNo, I don't consider myself a card maker. I find it SO hard compared to making a scrapbook page. I try and I usually end up tossing it because I'm embarrassed to actually give it away.

A cardmaker from Time to Time but not often. Takes me to much Time but should do more
ReplyDeleteI consider myself a beginner cardmaker. I actually just recently (a few months or so) have become obsessed with making cards. I'm not sure if I am good or not, but I love and have fun making them. I'd love to see lots of general cards and cards for season and specific holidays. I feel confident making Flashy Cards Fast especially if there is a class that can teach me some things.
ReplyDeleteI just recently participated in the SC WCMD and I was struggling a little with my 5 cards. I love layouts and my brain wants to cram everything in on that little card! I would love to practice with them more
ReplyDeleteI consider myself a card makerbut I do not make them fast. Would love to see a class on usind stamps in alternate ways than their original purpose.
